Drawn from the song Sube Marea by Los Pleneros de la Cresta in collaboration with Corre Forrest, and interpreted by Carla Brito Matei, this work continues the artist’s practice of weaving music into graphic design. The chorus—“When waves resound, it is our Mother’s signal. The tide is rising—rise now, rise. We are your People, steadfast at your side.”—resonates as both a warning and a call to action, reminding us that the struggles on Puerto Rico’s shores are inseparable from its People.

The artist reflects: “Puerto Rico was born from a volcanic eruption beneath the sea. We are fire that rose from the depths, like the goddess Yemayá. For her, for the Beaches that cradle us, and for all the beauty of Borikén, I share this work. With the hope that this message carries forward: The Beaches belong to the People, and to no one else!”
